So What's New at West Beach Resort?

4/22/08 Tent Cabins! We are finishing the final details on our new Tent Cabins, available for rental starting mid May, 2008. For years, people have been asking us if we provide tents for rent and, until now, we have not been able to accommodate them! Introducing a new way to camp at our resort - in a spacious 14'x16' tent cabin! Forget about the hassle of bringing and setting up your gear... let us do it! We'll have you enjoying a deluxe camping experience that you'll come to love!

We've spent much of the off-season on "touching up" the resort. We've completed repairs on our pier and floats, along with a bunch of landscaping and cabin improvements. See you all again this spring/summer!

4/12/07 You wanted it, you got it! Our surveys are a great way to know what our guests like and don't like. If we get enough interest, we will most likely put your ideas into action! Here are a few items you marked on your surveys that we have now completed: Paper towels, salt/pepper, picnic table and umbrellas for selected cabins, satellite TV in cabins 18 and 19, high quality futon mattresses, roll-up blinds instead of curtains, free Wednesday housekeeping service for weekly summer stays, reading chairs, delivered Sunday Times newspapers, and patio flower boxes. Keep those ideas coming... we listen!

2/5/07 What an incredible winter! I have never seen quite the destruction around the island as I did this past storm season. The arctic temps, wild wind, crazy snow, and the steady soaking rain... it all adds up to quite a busy season! Our gas float jumped the pilings and washed up on shore and we had many trees down, but that was pretty much the extent of the damage. We feel lucky... The weather is always a little more noticeable around here, too. I've always said you "feel" the weather on Orcas a lot more than you would in, say, Seattle.

We hope you all survived the stormy season alright! So what's new? Well, we have made a lot of internal improvements to help the resort run more smoothly. We're also dedicating the winter/fall to cabin improvements and furnishings. We hope you will enjoy them!

10/11/06 The off-season is upon us and we are beginning to have time to make ongoing improvements here at Ol' West Beach! We just got back from a "Pumpkin Run" and each cabin now has that hint of fall flare! We're also gearing up for our Winter Village to start just before Thanksgiving. Each year we add a few more lights to the cabins! We had a great response last year and we're glad you all love the lights so much!

4/26/06 We have completed some nice touches to the resort that we hope you will enjoy. The pond is now outfitted with an aeration system and a small fountain. The aeration system will hopefully put more oxygen in the water for a more healthy system, while the fountain gives the area that "garden" feel as you walk by. The fountain and aerations system are on a timer that is set between 9A.M. and 6P.M.

Most of the cabins now have their own flower boxes! We planted spring flowers and our guests really love it! We'll be putting in summer flowers shortly. Another addition are picnic tables and tiltable umbrellas for cabins 1, 5, 6A, 7, 8, and 12.

3/5/06 The lobby has received many improvements during the last month: New carpet, new floor paint, Wireless DSL, new front window, new Pepsi cooler (we now offer Pepsi instead of Coke), new trim and woodworking, and satellite TV! We hope you'll notice the changes we've made!

2/1/16 A lot! We have spent most of the off-season in the cabins fixing things that need fixing and touching up each cabin with small improvements. Some cabins got new windows, some got new carpet, some new linoleum, and some new cedar siding (now all cabins are sided with cedar). From new decks to shower heads, we hope you will notice (and enjoy) the little things we have done to make your next stay that much more enjoyable!

We have also "made-over" our patio area in front of the store with a combination of benches and westerly-facing tables so you can sit and look toward the water (instead of the old way where you could only look eastward). This will be a great compliment to our icecream stand we are trying this year. Sadly, however, we are discontinuing the grilled food as the demand was just not there. We will still be offering our great milkshakes, lemonade, smoothies, and now fresh ice cream and waffle cones! We hope you will enjoy!
